The SAE Clean Snowmobile
Challenge
Each year The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) organizes the
"SAE Clean Snowmobile Challenge". An intercollegiate design
competition for undergraduate students from all over the world.
The goal of the competition is to design a snowmobile that is more
environmentally friendly than those currently available on the
market. Pollution, noise levels, and energy consumption are all
evaluated. Following the success of the McGill Electric Snowmobile
at the previous competition, the next edition of the SAE Clean
Snowmobiles Challenge, to be held in Michigan in March 2006
will have an all new Zero-Emission category.
Events:
Emissions Test
Fuel Economy/Endurance Test
Trailer sled towing test
Noise Event
Oral Design Presentation
Acceleration Testing Event
Cold Start Event
Static Display Event
Technology Implementation Cost Assessment
Handling/Drivability Event
Shock Input Test Event
